For the last few years the digital word has been plagued with various business altering threats like Anna Kournikova virus, worms (ILOVEYOU – nearly infected every email in the world), Torjans – Graybird, Botnets, File-less malware, Adware to Ransomware that have crippled companies.
Not be outdone. Human viruses like SARS, EBOLA and most recent COVID-19 (Corona), have had both deadly and recoverable outcomes. Below are common traits that caught my eye other day.

Action items for:

  • Human viruses – always follow your medical practitioners advice on how to prevent or reduce such infections like self isolation (quarantine).
  • Computer viruses – IT uses the same concepts as the medical field, like quarantine (an infected file). Once the file is separated, you can decided whether to keep or delete. Another option is to configure your anti-malware/antivirus software to make decisions for you based on certain characteristics. May be use a combination of both. If neither or those options are appealing, you should engage the services of your trusted IT partner (like Kilele Consulting) on how you can reduce and or prevent such threats for your business using an Endpoint protection solution.

Auto-containment is the action of taking something potentially harmful and moving it to an isolated setting where it can be tested and investigated further
